Perfect and natural looking contours with Snoe's Slim Shade Me Face Sculpting Cake!

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

I don't understand why some women use brown eyeshadow to contour their face. I mean, instead of looking like you have a naturally slim face, all they're doing is look like they have dirt on their face. When I started doing makeup in 2004, there were limited products to be used for contouring, like Makeup Forever Sculpting kit which looks a little bit unnatural looking back at my old editorial photos. But it worked backed then.

And then today, there's SNOE's Slim Shade Me Face Sculpting Cake. The fact that this contouring powder is loaded with SlimLite technology, a product that actually makes your face slimmer, well -it says it all!

I can't say it enough, I have always believed in SNOE's products so I did not hesitate in using these contouring powders in a shoot I had the other day. I took photos of the products before I took these babies out for a test drive in a shoot and Lo and Behold, it didn't disappoint.

Let me give you a 411 on the ingredients list, here's some info from the Snoe Beauty Website to explain it to you better:

Amazonian Clay - minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. It helps nourish and hydrate dry skin and restore complexion harmony.

Coffee - contains caffeine to firm and tighten skin. Dehydrates fatty cells so that water will disappear from the surface of the skin.

Ferulic Acid - has been demonstrated to be an anti-oxidant extender for many of the other anti-oxidants. In particular, the combination of vitamins C and E were shown to double the photo protective capacity of the skin.

Multivitamins - Vitamin C & E and Niacinamide strengthen the skin’s barrier against free-radical damage.

Magnolia Bark Hot Water Extract (SlimLite) - Inhibits lipid accumulation and adipocyte (fat cells) differentiation. Blocks triglyceride (fat issue) synthesis.

This is the first time I have heard of Magnolia Bark Hot Water Extract (SlimLite) which literally absorbs fat cells making the area where you apply it slimmer!
These shades are pegged to look as natural as possible. I am lacking the Almond shade so I can't show you how that shade looks like, but these two have become an instant favorite, specially Peanut.
These photos do not do justice to the actual shades. It looks a little bit washed out on the photos but they are actually a deep skin-colored shades that looks very natural when you apply it. It was pegged to match morena skin so that it still looks like skin when mestizas/fair skinned women like me apply it.
When you swatch the two shades, you can see that Walnut has a more beige undertone, while the peanut is a dark yellow-toned shade. Walnut is semi0matte, while Peanut has a sheen iridescent finish to reflect a little bit of light. This one is my favorite.

The formula is very smooth, and glides like velvet on the skin. It is not at all shaky that makes the skin looks blotchy!
Let me show you two photos why I like this contouring powder. When you take a look at this photo of me looking at the camera when the light is almost evenly distributed on my face, you can hardly see the contours because it looks very natural.
But when a shadow is cast on one side of my face, you can see the faint shading which looks very natural! So when you are facing people, you do not have an unnatural looking contour streak on your face looking like Maleficent. Take a look how natural and beautiful my cheekbones are contoured with this powder. The shade is perfect for me considering I am very fair!
Usually, contouring powders just look to weird on me because of the orange-y tone it gives the skin. I usually use Sue Devitt's Hydrating Marine Minerals Pressed Powder in Seychelles (photo below), because it's not a contouring powder, it's actually a dark shade of pressed powder that looks like dark skin so the shading effect it gives looks very natural on me.

I used Snoe's Slim Shade Me on my BFF Carla on her wedding day, on Steph, and on me (photo below)! I just love it looks very natural, specially on bridal makeup! I don't like bridal makeup that looks like she's going to a photo shoot. I like to make my brides look as natural as possible: just radiant, and emphasize her natural bridal glow.

It's funny how some contouring powders make you look contoured even on non-shadowed areas. No matter what the lighting it, the contouring doesn't change. That looks very unnatural.

MY THOUGHTS:
Length of usage before review: 3 weeks, 5 brides.

  1. Finally, an affordable yet quality contouring product! I used to wear e.l.f. contouring blush/bronzer duo, but it oxidizes on me and makes me look like an Oompa-Loompa :( I wanted to get Happy Skin but it's too expensive. This is a nice option. Thank you! :D
